Set your video/DVD recorder/hard disc recorder/magic space box for Channel 4 at 3.30pm tomorrow (Tuesday) – or, if you’re not in gainful employment or work from home, just switch on the TV – for I will be a contestant on long-running cult afternoon game show Countdown.
I’ll be joined by current champion Vivienne, hosts Des O’Connor and Carol Vorderman, and Susie Dent and Rick Wakeman in Dictionary Corner.
One from the top and five from the bottom please, Carol.
One from the top? Surely three from the top is the way to go, if only for Carol’s reaction.
It has its temptations, but I’d have (even more) trouble actually finding a solution 🙂
I’d wish you good luck, but I guess it was recorded some months ago.
How about telling me what the conundrum answer is. I am fab at the numbers, but never ever get the conundrum, so if you told me, I could nip round my parents at the appropriate time, then suddenly hout out the answer and my mum would be so annopyed as it is the only thing she can beat me at these days !
Bah, too late to set the Sky box. Will there be a repeat?
It’s usually repeated in the early hours – there’s one on at 5.25am tomorrow (Wednesday) morning which might be the same episode.
Bad luck Will! I am not as good at Countdown as I used to be. I used to get the conundrum from time to time, but not a chance now.
Bad luck Will. Beaten by an old lady 🙂 I guess it’s much easier sitting around in the TV room at work compared with actually being there, but we did thrash her in relative scoring (mainly due to the numbers).
The final numbers game was in that rare category that was possible but Carol didn’t get it, so 3 from the top wouldn’t have helped. The guy I was watching with thinks I should apply…
You’d expect me to say so, but yes, it is much harder being there with the extra pressure, bits of stopping and starting, and 200 people sitting in front of you.
Not that I did any better – the answers I remembered aside – half watching today 😉 You should apply…
The early hours repeat will apparently be tomorrow (Friday) morning.
What’s strange is sitting on a bed in Dublin flicking through the channels on the TV and Heather going “Isn’t that Will on Countdown?”
