Get polling Sep 12

Looking at the results of this YouGov poll, I realise I’ve not blogged about YouGov before. They’re an online polling company who reward you for taking part in surveys on their website. These usually take about five minutes and you receive credit for taking part (usually 50p, but sometimes more and sometimes a prize draw entry). They aren’t just about voting intention: I’m regularly asked to answer a survey on brands, for example.

The paid-for polls, which vary in regularity as you have to be selected for the panel for that poll, are often interesting. I like being asked my views, and I’mnot going to complain about being paid for them. When your account credit reached £50, they send you a cheque. I received my first £50 a few years ago and am well on my way to another one.

I’m not just recommending YouGov out of altruism, of course. If you sign up here, I get extra credit for every paid-for poll you complete. 🙂

Make your Voice heard Sep 10

Mr Fenwick has launched a very promising new site called Liberal Demcrat Voice (http://www.libdemvoice.org).

It’s intended as a space on the web for LibDem members to chat, share ideas, and keep up with what’s going on it the party. There’s a private forum for party members and a blog with news and articles, plus tantalising future content including a piece from Ming’s head of office and a podcast. But don’t take my word for it – go and see for yourself.

Tapes recovered – puns ensue Sep 09

Excellent news from Hungary where the new BBC series Robin Hood is being Maid. Most of the missing master tapes have been recovered. They were stolen a few weeks ago, although it’s not clear whether it was a simple act of Robin or whether some Guy was Hoodwinked. No doubt the producers were not Merry Men and turned the air Scarlet when they found out, although they said it was only a Little problem; they Will be feeling Much better now. Some scenes have already been remounted; for contrivance’s sake, I hope at least one was in A Dale.

You will note the lack of Friar Tuck puns. That’s because the character isn’t in the new series, presumably due to lobbying from the Reverend Spooner.

25 lines answers Sep 08

I’ve posted the remaining answers to the opening lines quiz meme. I’ve impressed at quite how many were got, and not surprised that a not very successful Roxette single, a Bluetones B-side, a David Devant remix and tracks by the very obscure Midget and Elcka went unidentified. I am a little surprised that no-one recognised Hit Parade from the Beautiful South album Painting It Red.

Good fun anyway – thanks to all who played. I recommend it to the blogosphere 🙂
